Three hurt in Sunderland street slashings
THREE men suffered slash wounds in a dawn street attack today.
The disturbance happened in Holmeside, in Sunderland city centre, at 4am, leaving two men with injuries to their arm and the third with facial injuries.
A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested at the scene outside Cash in a Flash on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They remain in custody today.
Blood was on the pavement outside the store this morning as police kept guard.
One man, who works in Park Lane Market opposite the scene but didn’t want to be named, said: “They don’t call last night Black Eye Friday for nothing.”
All three victims were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where the man with cuts to his face is to undergo surgery. The other two been discharged.
